How to build a portfolio clients trust
6 min read
Your portfolio is often the first and only thing a client looks at before deciding to talk to you. It doesn't need to be big. It needs to be clear.
Pick your best five, not your whole history
Five strong pieces beat thirty average ones. Choose work that matches the kind of jobs you want more of.
Tell the story behind each piece
In two or three lines, say what the client needed, what you did, and what changed afterwards. That's what makes a sample believable.
Be honest about your role
If you worked in a team, say which part was yours. Clear credit builds trust, and it's one of the things we look at when we review portfolios.
Keep it current
Remove work that no longer reflects your level. An up to date portfolio shows you're active and growing.
